Nashville, the American cradle of New Country, is no longer that far away. The harmonious and dancing chords of Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, George Strait and Clint Black among others, begin to echo from these lands with arrangements and melodies deliciously interpreted by national musicians. New Country bands proliferate in the same speed that the rodeo and the American brands disembarked here and conquered their space. If today the Barretos Rodeo is among the fifth largest in the planet and the Brazilian cowboy Adriano Moraes collects prizes even in the land of Brooks and Strait; the guitars are also giving its riffs in the same proportion. Among this new generation that is introducing the New Country Music in Brazil, a band deserves to be recognized. We are talking about Mad Bull Country Band, that in the short time on the music highway, has proved that New Country already has a captivated room in the Brazilian public's taste. Since the original formation, the vocalist Paco Abujamra remains, in fact, one of the founders of the band. The heavy voice and an American accent adequately loaded for the style (gotten thanks to years of living in Oklahoma city and studies in Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas), place him in the front line of New Country Music interpreters in the Country. Backing him up on the stage and out of it, the first team instrumentalist Alex Nunes, is responsable for chords well placed and seasoned with solos that can carry as much the harmony of the country music as to bring up the strong personality and the band's own style. As Eduardo Araujo, who have just made a clip with The Bellamy Brother's and is one of the most encouraging guys of the New Country Music in Brazil, evaluates - Mad Bull Country Band maintains a very well chosen repertoire mixed to a very atypical way of play for the patterns of the country music. "What gives an extremely interesting combination", he says. The vigor and persistence of Paco and Alex together, have given a new life to the arrangements and compositions of the band with their long term experience. Yes, because not only of cover songs lives the Mad Bull Country Band. Among the band's compositions, the public's larger receptivity is Homem de Valor (Worthy Man), Quando Ela Tentava (When She Tried), the ballad Solidão (Loneliness), and Isso é Barretos (This is Barretos), considered the official song of the Barretos Rodeo of 1999 and was among the most asked and executed song in the main radio stations that were participating and promoting the event that year, including the three largest radios stations of the country, Jovem Pan, Band FM and Transamérica FM. "Mad Bull is a pleasant discovery", guarantee Ivan and Ícaro Siqueira, partners in the Radio Club Brazil, a typical New Country bar and proprietors of Omega FM radio station. Even other style and famous artists have already woven praises to the band. Tony Belloto, the guitarist of Titãs (a famous Brazilian Rock & Roll band of the 80's that divides the same recording studio with Mad Bull Country Band) when listening to one of the tracks of the Mad Bull CD announced: "It sounds just like a gringo's song". |
