The
Mad Bull Country Band history begin in 1997, when Paco Abujamra
and an old friend decided to gather some guys up to form a band and
have some fun. In the first few months, the band rehearsed a lot and
played very little, until April of 1998, when it begin to be taken more
seriously and play out all over Brazil...
But
lets go to the facts:
In
1992, Paco Abujamra left Brazil destined to the United States,
more precisely to live in Oklahoma City - OK at first, and then Fort
Worth, neighboring city of Dallas - TX, where he would study English
and agriculture. A country music lover since he was a boy, took advantage
of his free time to learn how to play the guitar and sing, even winning
an contest interpreting "If Tomorrow Never Comes", by Garth Brooks.
Fan of Elvis Presley, went to Tennessee, where he visited Graceland,
in Memphis - TN, where Elvis is buried, and Nashville, the cradle of
the country music.
Back
to Brazil, after founding Mad Bull Country Band, many rehearsals
took place, musicians came and went originating several band formations
and a lot of experience for the ones whose persisted and stayed. On
April 28, 1998, Paco Abujamra (acoustic guitar and voice), along
with the guitar player Alex Nunes, decided to give Mad Bull
Country Band a new chance.
Along
with some professional musicians, the band would go on to the road and
make a long series of shows and some of the most famous compositions
of the band, bringing to the Brazilian public the best of the American
country music, interpreting it in a very particular way, besides of
its own compositions in Portuguese, where the personality of the band
leaves its marks wherever it goes through. An example of that is the
song "Isso é Barretos" (This is Barretos), especially composed
in 1999 for the largest rodeo event in Brazil and the secong largest
of the globe, "Barretos Rodeo", where it was considered to be the official
song of the event and it was among the more asked and more played song
in all of the radio stations that were participating and promoting the
event as well.
That
is the Mad Bull Country Band history, a band that came to entertain
and make people happy, that has pleasure in doing what it does and that
believes that work, tenacity and honesty can make dreams become reality,
therefore, came to stay!
